Avivo support people across Western Australia who requires individualised assistance to live at home due to disability, frailty or mental illness. We work together with people and families to plan, coordinate and provide support and services as they choose to lead their lives.

 

We are looking for an outgoing and social support workers to provide support to a young man with Cerebral Palsy who enjoys socialising with family and friends, walking his pet dog, ice skating and going to the movies.

 

The role of the support worker will be to help this young man to communicate using his PODD communication device as he learns and experiences new things. To be part of this team you will need to be able to develop trust, be reliable, flexible, enthusiastic and patient.

 

You will become a valued team player. 

 

Duties include:

  • Providing complex personal care including bowel care
  • Undertaking manual tasks including hoisting and domestic assistance
  • Providing reliable and flexible support that best meet the customer’s needs
  • Problem solving any issues that may arise
  • Working collaboratively with the customer and the team

What we require: 

  • Previous Disability experience is preferred but not essential (training provided)
  • Willingness to learn and be trained to provide complex support delivery
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competent in using technology (email and mobile phone) 
  • Ability to think outside the box and problem solve
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are essential
  • Available to work twice a week for about 7 hours  and weekends
  • Available to attend and complete mandatory training sessions during the week
  • Must be currently living within Willagee and surrounding suburbs
