Recovery Mentors at Avivo play an important role in our organisation. They share responsibility for providing quality supports to our customers and form an integral link between our customers and the rest of the team.


We are looking for a mentor to work approximately 8 hours a week in North of the River suburbs as part of our Individualised Community Living Team. Our ICL program is focused on identifying and building on the strengths of the people we support to enhance their recovery and meeting their individual needs.


As a minimum requirement:

  • Previous experience in the Mental Health sector
  • Previous experience in community work
  • Understanding of and experience in supporting people in recovery
  • Ability to build good relationships and maintain the professional boundaries of the role
  • Ability to work effectively around chaos and find simple creative solutions
  • Ability to facilitate people to develop and sustain their own social connections and relationships
  • Commitment to helping people to develop skills to self-manage their lifestyle and well being

 To be successful in this position you will:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health or working towards
  • Display strong communication skills with an ability to take initiative and advantage of opportunities that present themselves
  • Have a good understanding of strength based practice and how to apply it
  • Have flexibility to work varying hours during the week and weekends
  • Be available to respond to changing support times
  • Have daily access to a reliable vehicle and possess a valid driver’s licence
  • Be available for work up to 8 hours per week

 In return, successful candidates will receive a minimum rate of $25.50 per hour plus super with the option of salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum. Other benefits include the payment of travel time, a travel allowance of 76 cents per kilometre between supports and great training opportunities.


Making an appointment to this position is subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
